Anyway, well done for Bike Hike everyone :D Forget the record, what's more important is that we (and the participants) had fun without any major injuries or incidents :D 35th rocks!

Hey 35th!

I know that everyone is feeling pretty down and disappointed right now with the way things are turning out. The problems seem to be never-ending and are flying at us from all directions. However, do not give up! Think of the juniors and what responsibilities we have towards them. As GIs, as instructors, we play a big part in shaping the experience of the juniors in camp. They can sense our mood and it will affect them too, inevitably. So, emo if you have to for today but pick yourself up and move on! We need to put up a good front in front of the juniors tomorrow. And don't be frustrated or disappointed, do the best you can with our current situation and play your part well. We need to stay bonded as one 35th, especially at times like this.

We're all in this together.

As a sort of preamble before ITC photos from your dedicated official photographer, here are the photos I said I'd upload eons ago XD Okay lah, actually it's because the almost 400 photos from ITC are taking their time to upload on photobucket right now. But I think most of you except yalam should have seen them on fb already anyway.

Us (ex) Bio O people (well half of the Bio O-asis gang anw) were too amused by the fact that our shoes actually matched our fac colours XD (this was on 2 different days) Can you match the shoes to the person?! :D

Hello! Dead blog is still kinda dead. So in a probably miserable attempt at revival, here comes THE NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN HAIRSTYLES OF RAYNA GOH!

Don't you think Rayna's hair is amazing? It always looks EXACTLY THE SAME. I bet if you look at the YL day 5 pictures, where everyone's hair is a huge mess and gross, you will find that Rayna's hair is looking as perfect as ever. She claims she uses no hair gel whatsoever, yet when she wakes up every morning, it looks just like that!

So, Jiaxi took it upon herself to give this Rayna Goh a makeover of sorts! This is Rayna with a fringe! :D

Yes, this is that Rayna Goh who freakily got 100 for Chem promos. ... Over 110 lah! But still super zai! ☆ :D

Random trivia: She has never had hair long enough to plait, though when she was really young she could actually tie a pony tail! :)

Random trivia 2: Rachel was born legs first. According to today's Bio Olympiad training lecture, that means she was at high risk of brain damage and other complications... Hmmmmm...

This blog is so dead:/ Still, I shall sum up MAF partially since there weren't any post-MAF posts yet.

Well its was fun(: Good job to everyone for working so hard and especially to Kai Yun and the rest of MAF comm! Cai Yi get well soon:D Our very first event was quite successful, and hopefully we get refunds for them lightsticks then we'll earn more than the seniors yayys(: Ohyeah those who havent paid kaiyun lunch money etc please do so soon kay she'll be at junior oac bench in the canteen every morning. WHOOO looking forward to FOS!

Hello hello,

Pictures from water gun fight and Sentosa are uploading to Photobucket as slowly as ever... (okay that was an exaggeration haha)... Anyway, if you have yet to realise... NEW LAYOUT! It's in our batch colour :D No longer the grey-that's-supposed-to-represent-silver, which was our "old" batch colour haha. Thanks Caiyi for the batch photo :D

And so, while waiting for those pics to upload to photobucket, I shall post about the Coincidence at Changi Airport! :D

See, Jiaxi and I were at the airport to send off our classmate who's going to Canada to study. Geena wasn't there cuz her mum didn't let her go (it was like at 11pm?). Suddenly I got a tap on my shoulder, and it was 3 people. And they asked me...

"Are you from OAC?"

... And got very excited when I said yes (they recognised the OAC badge from afar!). Turns out they're from the 31st batch! That's 4 years our senior :O Shows how the OAC bonds are still strong... What's more, they were all from Comanches! And sending off another Comanche... YL bonds... XD Plus coincidence since Jiaxi's also from Comanches of course haha. And guess what? 31st batch's guy-girl ratio is almost exactly the same as ours :O I thought we were the only one with more girls than guys... And you know the rather eye-catching "31st Land Chiefs" painted on the QM room ceiling? The culprit was also there... So yet another coincidence, this time, land chief coincidence! Then one of them turned out to be from 05s7E! So there was also a 7E coincidence :) Cool huh!

Oh and the land chiefs went to Pulau Ubin 2 days ago :) Next Land Ex destination will be Chek Jawa! :D There's a really nice observation tower there! Except that it supposedly can only hold a maximum of 20 people :( Anyway, we can cycle there from the jetty, though once we actually get to Chek Jawa we would have to park our bikes... There are also some nice downslopes (as well as some irritating upslopes of course!) for us to cycle down :D

Yup, that's it for now till the water guns and sentosa pictures finish uploading :D

Despite muscle aches (from extensive PT just 2 days before the challenge><), they managed to not give up and complete the race! GOOD JOB=) Do share your experiences with us and post something here when u have the time to do so! Hopefully you guys had a good rest and have fully recovered from the exhaustion=)

Hey Oasis! :D Rollerbladding was successfully held yesterday :) I think most of us more or less grasped the basics of skating so yay! Land chiefs have officially achieved their goal set at GM so we can proceed to slack off now and *~give other chiefs a chance to plan things!~* XD

Hey Oasis!

Blocks period is almost over, hope everyone didn't do too badly... GOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO ARE TAKING BIO AND CHINESE TOMORROW, don't worry the end is near haha

Anyway for the upcoming land activity ROLLERBLADING on saturday, details have been smsed to you guys by Sarah already, but im going to post it up here still =)

Date: Saturday 4th of July, 12pm at ecp macs (time has been changed)

Stuff to take note of:

-Bring enough money for rollerblading and lunch or dinner after that (about $20)
-Enough water to last you for the day, or you can buy drinks as well
-Extra clothes to change into

We may be cycling also (bikehike route anyone?) so dont bring too many things with you if not it may bother u even while rollerblading also, unless we can find somewhere to put our stuff

Those who can try to make it ok? Its a post-blocks gathering for all of us, since we havent had much activity in awhile.

Remember to sleep enough! Make up for all those hours lost during blocks, since we are meeting up at 12 so you guys can sleep in =)

We are a team of students from Anglo-Chinese Junior College, Hwa Chong Institution (College Section), Nanyang Girls' High School, National Junior College, Raffles Institution (Junior College), Raffles Institution (Secondary), River Valley High School and Victoria Junior College. Our project, entitled Accendo, is Greek for “illuminate” and is in aid of the Student Advisory Centre (SAC) which provides a myriad of services and programmes for underprivileged youth and children.

The Lunch Box Fund is the Centre’s cash gift to primary and secondary school students from poor and needy families, which sponsors the children for an entire academic year. With this, the Centre intends to contribute S$143,000 to the community in year 2009, to approximately 500 deserving students. The Centre hopes to empower youths from disadvantaged family backgrounds such that they may gain self-dependency.

Accendo '09 aims to:

I Raise $50,000 for the SAC

II Promote awareness of the SAC, and in particular, the beneficiaries of the Lunch Box Fund, to at least 200,000 students and members of the public

III Inspire other youths to rise up to the challenge and aid the community

To aid the SAC in its fund raising efforts, Accendo will be conducting 19 streets sales sessions to raise funds for our cause. In short, we’ll be holding a series of street sales and would like to enlist your help as volunteers! Details regarding the dates and timings of the sales are as follows:

There'll be a combined senior-junior rockclimbing session this coming monday!

Date: 8 June 2009
Time: 3.30pm-6.30pm
Venue: Climber's Laboratory (where 34th went for ITC and where 35th went for YLTC)
Price: $15 per person! Please bring more if you guys are planning batch dinner or something (we can have combined batch dinner if you guys want. But I dunno how 50 people are gonna crash any eating place o.o): (STJ!!! we make seniors treat us lol okay just joking)
Wear: Any HC tees+track pants! (NO FBTs or shorts!)
Bring:
-water bottle( about one litre? unless you think 500ml can last you then go ahead)
-set of clothes and towel (optional: if you want to change after climbing)

Bike hike in 3 days time. Though we have not played as big a part in it as the seniors, i am sure that us juniors are anxiously looking forward to it too. (Especially after today's briefing which touched on the topic of fatal accidents? Lol.. Touchwood!) After being through at least one recce, how much have our confidence grow? Today, i know of many people who were mugging bike hike routes during lectures and tutorials. This activity continued after lessons ended and lasted all the way till before the briefing. Hopefully we'll act as good assistant instructors to the instructors! For now, jia you in mugging the route for bike hike OASIS! Rest well and take good care not to fall sick! JIA YOU!!

Anyway, go go dig out your The Sunday Times (24 May, 2009) LIFESTYLE section Page 2! Doesn't it look like a whole bunch of stuff we could go do as a batch that is not the usual Land Ex, Kayaking or Rock climbing? :D They even divided it into Land Sea Air for us already hahahaha.

Like there's the Luge at Sentosa, Paintball, Zorbing (rolling down hills in plastic balls lol) etc for land; this high elements-like thing in a forest (looks damn fun) and trapeze for air; and cable skiing and power-boating (dunno what that is though heh) etc for sea!

What say you all to chiefs planning for the batch to go for these stuffs next term or something? :)

okay so i was bored. and koping a friend's stash of haribo gummybears. it was physics in A309. see i still rmb! haha okay anyway the orange gummybear is supposed to be oasis and the um, empty space around is the desert! see we bring colour and hope to the world! okay so i digress.

can this blog be not dead. even if you spam random stuff like me! hahaha. okay YAYS we got batch identity today! :D remember to pay the money to treasurer on monday and to wear it on the left ankle!

and ohyeah gotta go learn sundance (which i admit i havent looked at yet).

bikehike recce tomorrow! jiayou everybody who's going! hopefully here wont be any accidents:D and remember to get enough sleep. heh a bit tough considering all the tests that are coming up. so we can all snooze at 2 o clock dreaming of inequalities and differentiation or something. or punching your GC.

So... Results are out. Must thank seniors for not cutting down our batch by that much >< So now although officially it's the 22 of us, OASIS is still made up of 28 people okay! 35th OAC itself may be 22, but OASIS, the one that survived YLTC together, will always, always be 28 :)

~~because I have nothing better to do/post~~ The song that has been playing in my head for the past few days, which I think has lyrics that apply to us XD (translation for some parts below) Arashi's "Ashita no Kioku (Tomorrow's Memories)"!

How many times can we come to love someone, in the middle of the changing eras?

In our overlapping hearts there is happiness and sadness, warmth and hate

Random trivia: 22/2 in Japan is known as CAT'S DAY. Because the onomatopoeia for cat is "NYA(N)", and it sounds like the word for 2, "NI" XD So we 22 are a NYA-NYA batch! Cat batch XD

Today I was at a family dinner. And I was talking to my ~~cousin~~aunt. She was from RJ OAC! And what's more, her boyfriend was from HWA CHONG OAC! Haha seriously this world is so small. Rather, Singapore is so small.

I didn't get to talk to him very much cuz my father and uncles wanted to talk to him about some other stuff, but he told me he was from Apaches (too bad it'd have been cooler if he was from Cherokees haha then he would be my super-great-grand-ex!)! And that he was PnS chief! And he was from 27th :)

And did you know, in the past YLTC used to be in June? @__@ No wonder they could have super long camps! But imagine not bathing for 15 days... XD

Yup haha XD Still very amused by this hehe.

peer evaluation results

It's tomorrow, and I think most of us are feeling quite emo. But let's try to stay positive :D Our batch will emerge more resilient from this, even though we will end up considerably smaller.

I'm feeling emo myself but I guess emo-ing does no good. Let's just all be there for each other tomorrow, no matter what happens.

This being a secular blog (I suppose), I can't say exactly what I want to say but the closest I can say is: May whatever happens tomorrow bring about the best outcome for our batch.

We are, and always will be, OASIS.

So... It's peer evaluation tomorrow.

Aka the advent of The Great Week of Emo.

The last few days we'll have together as the same OASIS that survived YLTC'09 and slogged for YL Night'09 together, and everything else in between. From the physically and mentally draining MROCs, to the super hilarious stuff like Ms YL, we went through it all together. Even when the batch is forced to break up I hope we all remember that. As much as I'm sure everyone wants to remain as the 28-of-us ~~in the same boat in the same oasis~~, the seniors are quite right when they say smaller size = easier to bond. (is anyone thinking of Chem now...? HAHA) Even though it still sucks that people have to leave...

Only a month, but we'll be friends forever :) (cheesy but it's true [we will make it so!])

Let's cherish the last 3 days we'll have together <3

Meanwhile, let's be truthful for peer evaluation and try not to rig it :/ Or else seniors will make us redo, which renders it pointless anyway. We can only trust the system to make us the best reduced batch we can be (did that make sense?)... >< After all, even if we try to be smart and rig it, we don't know what the results will end up like as a result of our rigging. It could be even worse. D:

Okay, moving on, all the best for Chem lecture test tomorrow :D
